NCSO’S EMPLOYEE TOOK PART IN THE SYMPOSIUM DEVOTED TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF DECORATIVE APPLIED ARTS

“Protection service” NCSO’s scientific-research departments’ head, candidate of historical sciences, ethnographer Karine Bazeyan took part in a symposium in Kyrgyzstan, organized by Moscow’s decorative applied and folk arts Russian museum,  by  the support of the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation between ICOM and CIS countries.  The proceedings of the four-day lasted conference was introduced to NCSO’s directorate and employees.

In the program of the conference “The main trends of the development of decorative applied arts from 1960-2010” theme was involved. It was implemented within the framework of “The heritage of cooperation: custom for the future” project, the aim of which is to increase the role of cultural heritage and promote the development of humanitarian and cultural links in the territory of CIS countries.  A number of events were implemented within the framework of the project. In 2016 it was held in Azerbaijan , and is planned to be held in Kazakhstan in 2018. In this year’s conference 9 CIS countries’ representatives  took part, who presented 36 reports. Among the Armenian participants was Karine Bazeyan with “Peculiarities of Armenian contemporary embroidery” report, during which she detailed about traditional and contemporary embroidery. During Karine Bazeyan’s report samples of old and contemporary Armenian embroidery were presented.

The opening of the conference took place in Kyrgyzstan’s national museum after Gapar Aitiev. In the evening the exhibition named “Russia’s applied art. authorial works, 20-21 centuries” was opened in the same museum.

Next day the participants went to Kara-oy village on the shore of Issyk-Kul lake, where the conference continued. On the road they visited “Buran tower” museum, which is involved in UNESCO’s list of cultural heritage.

The conference continued in Issyk-Kul’s hotel as well. Participants also attended Cholpon-Ata city’s international “Oymo” festival devoted to traditional arts and culture, and were present Issyk-Kul’s geological museum, where master classes of carpet weaving were organized.

On the way back to Bishkek the participants of the symposium visited “Nomadic civilization’s museum-center”, where a joint workshop was organized by the Union of Craftsmen of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The business trip was ended in the workshops of felt making masters, where they took part in the process of making felt slippers.
