ARMENIA-HONG KONG VOLUNTEER CAMP IN “ZVARTNOC” MUSEUM-RESERVE

Within the framework of Unesco’s “Patrimonito 2018” programme from April 2 to 6 the participants of the Armenia-Hong-Kong first international camp hosted in “Zvartnoc” historical-cultural museum-reserve. 12 volunteers were from Hong Kong this time, another 4 were from Armenia. The first excursion of the participants having different professions was held in the territory of “Zvartnoc” historical-cultural museum-reserve. The volunteers did sanitary cleanings in the monument territory as well. They are in our country by the invitation of “Armenia’s student detachment” organization /director Stepan Stepanyan/.

It’s not the first time that the “Service for the protection of historical environment and historical-cultural museum reserves” NCSO and “HUJ” come up with such an initiative.

Most of the youth arrived from Hong Kong are in Armenia for the first time. They are attracted by the Armenian hospitality, our mountainous country, climate, architecture and historical-cultural monuments. For seeing Armenia and getting attracted by its beauty most of the volunteers had arrived a few days earlier, while the others will discover Armenia in the nearest days. They will visit the territories of a number of historical-cultural monuments.

The youth from Hong Kong already have bright impressions about the Armenian cultural heritage. They have visited “Garni” historical-cultural museum-reserve, Geghard, Etchmiadzin cathedral, Matenadaran, History museum of Armenia.

According to Lilit Gevorgyan, the head of the volunteer camp, the participants were most of all attracted by the days of Armenian and Chinese cuisine.

At first Armenian volunteers learnt about the secrets of making Armenian tolma and barbeque, further made them together and tasted the dishes.

The youth from Hong Kong told about their national cuisine, later cooked “Salami from sticky rice” with spices they brought with them and sweet soup made of rice flour.

“Today we summed the impressions we got from the camp. The volunteers from Hong Kong, who are also very experienced in the field of camp organization leave the country with bright impressions.          They assured that next time they will come to Armenia with their friends”, mentioned the head of the camp Lilit Gevorgyan.

In the end, the participants were awarded with certificates from “Protection service” NCSO and “HUJ”.
