EVENT DEDICATED TO THE MONUMENTS AND ARMENIA’S ARCHAEOLOGICAL ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE MILITARY UNIVERSITY AFTER VAZGEN SARGSYAN

By the initiative of NCSO’s Yerevan regional service and NCSO’s division of events planning and marketing an event dedicated to the popularization of monuments and undistorted protection was held in the military university after Vazgen Sargsyan.

Within the framework of “Army-education-culture” project events like that are held periodically. This time the head of NCSO’s Yerevan regional service Vrej Hajyan was hosted in the military university after Vazgen Sargsyan, the head of NCSO’s division of events planning and marketing Armen Israyelyan, chairan of YSU faculty of archaeology and ethnography Hayk Avetisyan and the lecturer of the same chair Rafik Nahapetyan.

Welcoming the students of the military university, Vrej Hajyan talked about the features of Yerevan’s historical-cultural monuments, protection problems, events held for popularization. V. Hajyan highlighted the importance of the active participation of the military university students and servicemen in implementing sanitary cleanings in monument territories within the framework of “Army-education-culture” project.

The chairman Hayk Avetisyan delivered “The novelties of Armenian archaeology nowadays” lecture, during which he mentioned about the archaeological discoveries implemented in Armenia and Artsakh, which testify that our country and nation is an ancient one. Those archaeological achievements are widely known all over the world, are of exclusive significance”. Hayk Avetisyan particularly mentioned about Artsakh’s Tigranakert city, Azokhi settlement and cave culture having historical-cultural significance, the 5500 years old brogue excavated during archaeological excavations from Vayots dzor region’s “Birds cave” settlement.

He also talked about the types of weapons found during the excavations, which are exclusive with their preparation technique.

The lecturer of YSU chair of archaeology and ethnography Rafik Nahapetyan mentioned about the genetic problems of Armenian nation during “The Armenian and his motherland” lecture and presented his motherland as a cradle of ancient civilization’s origin.

By the end of the meeting the students of the military university watched “The vandals of the 21st century” film about the annihilation of Jugha’s khachkars.
