ТHEY CELEBRATED TYARNENDARACH HOLIDAY AT THE “GARNI” AND “LORI BERD” RESERVATIONS

On February 13, at 17:00, one of the important holidays of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Tyarnendarach (coming yet from the times of the Pagan Armenia and was called Trndez in those times) was celebrated in the historical and cultural “Garni” Museum-Reservation and in the “Lori Berd (Fortress) ”Settlement” historical and cultural Reservation.

The event at the “Garni” Museum-Reservation has begun at the Surb Khach (the Holy Cross) Church of the Garni Community.

With fire taken from the Church lampadas, participants of the Event accompanied with the national songs and music moved to the Museum-Reservation where a bonfire was lit at a specially designated place for the event. (In accordance with an ancient tradition, the newly wed jumped over that bonfire.)

The event has begun at 17:00.

At the Historical and Cultural Reservation “Lori Berd” Settlement”, a branch of the State Non-Commercial Organization “Service for the Protection of the Historical Environment and Historical and Cultural Museum-Reservations”, the same event has started at 17.00 as well, at the planned place.

Famous ensembles of traditional song and dance performed at the site.

The purpose of the event  at the “Garni” historical and cultural Museum-Reservation and the “Lori Berd” Settlement” historical and cultural Reservation was to bring a Monument even closer to the people and to shape a caring attitude to the cultural heritage, when preserving national, traditional holidays.
