EXHIBITION IN ZVARTOC DEVOTED TO THE ACTIVITY OF MKHITARYAN CONGREGATION

Mkhitaryan Congregation, which has its’ unique and exclusive role not only in Armenian but in worldwide cultural history will celebrate it’s 300-anniversary of the entry to St. Ghazar island.

NCSO’s Directorate is planning an exhibition on September 21 in “Zvartnoc” historical-cultural museum-reservation for presenting the activity of Mkhitar Sebastatsi and Mkhitaryan Congregation to the broad section of society.

Spiritual, educational, scientific and cultural organization was founded by Mkhitar Sebastatsi in the year of 1701 in Constantinople. In 1717 the Congregation was replaced to ST. Ghazar island, turning it into a unique spiritual Armenia.

The preparations of the exhibition have started from the beginning of the year. Elmira Esayan the head of the department of exhibitions organization got acquainted with rich and interesting archive materials during her visit to Venice.

For the above mentioned exhibition to succeed, Ara Tarverdyan the Director of NCSO met with Father Eghia, the responsible of Mkhitaryan Congregation, discussing questions concerning the organization of the exhibition, archive and original materials.

“It’s a great honor for us to cooperate with you, as Mkhitaryan Congregation is a real Armenian island in Europe. This cooperation is the beginning of the great work that we can call to life together for presenting our cultural heritage to Europe. I assure that you have a reliable partner”, mentioned Ara Tarverdyan in his speech.

He also talked about presenting rich archive materials, particularly details about the declaration of the Congregation’s formation, about famous people who worked and got educated there, private things and original materials.

Father Eghia in his turn expressed willingness to work with NCSO on the elaborating and collecting process of the details. In his words for presenting archive materials there will be a need to write a letter to Mkhitaryan Congregation.

Mkhitar Sebastatsi best of all described the activity of Congregation filled with Armenian spirit and breath. “Patriotic atmospehere leads here, work with prayer, patriotism with virtue, ideoligism with belief and always Armenia, everything for Armenia and Armenians”.

So the exhibition for doubling the Independence day celebration will tell about the Armenians with high spiritual values and their investment in our culture and history.
