EDGES ON COOPERATION WITH LEBANON’S HAYKAZYAN UNIVERSITY

“Protection service” NCSO outlines new edges on cooperation with Beirut’s Haykazyan university. During 62 years the college has implemented scientific-educational activity in the Middle East. During the meeting with the directorate of “Protection service” NCSO, Haykazyan university’s “Armenian diaspora studies center’s” director and “Haykazyan armenological review’s” secretary Andranik Daqesyan have discussed the possible ways of cooperation. It is planned to involve the students of Haykazyan university in the excavations of Metsamor archaeological site in 2018 and popularize the historical-cultural heritage of Armenia through the review, support to the creation of the catalogue about the Armenian monuments of Lebanon, show methodical support to the colleagues of diaspora through the exchange of experience.

First steps of cooperation are already taken. “Protection service” NCSO’s employee, ethnographer Khoren Grigoryan has implemented ethnographic researches in Lebanon’s Aynchar village by the sponsorship of “Galust Gyulbenkyan” fund and Haykazyan university. The material collected by him referred to the arrangement of the residence, Armenian roots as well as to the traditions of Aynchar’s Armenians. Their successors have erected 15 monuments in Aynchar. The monument that perpetuates the heroic battle of Mousaler, the three churches and the water mill monument. KH. Grigoryan talked with the residents of the village, listened to their stories and recorded documental datum.

By the way, “Protection service” NCSO’s scientific researcher is going to summarize the studies in his Candidate’s dissertation.
