The results of 2017’s annual works have been summed up in “Protection service” NCSO. The heads of regional services, reserves and museum-reserves delivered reports about the problems arising in the reservation of monuments, including the absence of reserving zones, imprecisions, delinquencies and cooperation with local self-governmental bodies. 22 delinquency cases were mentioned especially in Aragatsotn, Syunik and Kapan regions.

They mentioned about the most endangered monuments as well. Karen Pahlevanyan, the deputy director of NCSO recommended introducing datum about at least one monument that needs to be restored.

Because of the absence of reservation zones, the employees of the regional service find it hard to prevent constructions in monument territories. Strange as it is, the heads of communities sometimes encourage these illegalities though they are equally responsible for the reservation of cultural heritage.

According to preliminary datum in 2017, 50 percent of growth has been recorded in NCSO’s museums and museum-reserves.

“Next year the 17th summit of Francophone international organization will be held in Erevan. Sign boards in Armenian and French are planned to be placed in Zvartnoc, Garni and Amberd. It’s not yet decided how many sign boards will direct the visitor but they are sure to have also night lightning”, mentioned Ara Tarverdyan in his speech.

Taking into accout “Garni” historical-cultural museum-reserve’s overloaded work, NCSO’s directorate made a decision to replenish its staff. Among the novelties will be the installation of obstruction near the entrance which will contribute to forming a civilized culture for service. The work with tourist agencies will be in the center of attention.

“Lori” reserve had more than 16 000 visitors this year. The entry is free, the reserve has a problem of developing its infrastructures. NCSO’s directorate informed that there are many things to be done in the upcoming year for resolving these problems. 2018 will be a year of implementing massive projects for NCSO.

“There are many things to be done, and I’m sure that due to responsibility and team work we will succeed”, added Karen Pahlevanyan in his speech.

“Zorac qarer” one of the most beautiful monuments of Armenia had 28.000 visitors during the year. In case of better road conditions the image will be different. International bank is about to implement certain projects in the territory of museum-reserve, but the restoration of the road leading to the monument is not included in them. K. Pahlevanyan informed that the problem is in the center of NCSO’s directorate’s attention.

Ashot Avagyan, the head of “Zorac qarer” historical-cultural museum-reserve suggested placing a sign board in the monument territory near the excavated cave.

“Metsamor” historical-cultural museum-reserve has also been in the center of tourists’ attention, which implemented many educational programs this year. Within the framework of “I’m one part of this space” educational program interesting projects have been organized in “Garni” and “Zvartnoc” historical-cultural museum-reserves. “Curious archaeology” educational program has been organized in “Metsamor” which will be continuous.

During the year many events were organized in other museum-reserves, reserves and regional services as well.

Summing up the works implemented in 2017, the directorate of NCSO gave special recommendations for increasing the efficiency of working system, investigating and minuting as delinquency the cases of burials implemented in monument territories. It was also recommended to include volunteers in the sanitary cleanings of monument territories.
