CONFERENCES DEDICATED TO EUROPEAN HERITAGE HELD IN GERMANY

The delegation of “Protection service” NCSO also took part in the conferences entitled “Partner of European heritage volunteers” and “The best models of volunteering for the European cultural heritage” held in Germany’s Leipzig and Weimar cities.

“The best models of volunteering for the European cultural heritage” conference was held within the framework of European leading exhibition dedicated to monuments protection, restoration and reconstruction in the context of European cultural year.

They came to consensus in advance with “European heritage volunteers” organization to present Armenia with a separate pavilion about the art of making khachkars and master classes in “Denkmal-Europe’s” leading fair for conservation, restoration and old building renovation” exposition.

The representative of the khachkar making school after RA folk artist Varazdat Harutyunyan had also left for Germany with the Armenian delegation. The participants had the opportunity to see a video about Armenian khachkar making art. It was also mentioned about the abolishment of Armenian khachkars in Jugha’s cemetery and the cultural genocide.

Visitors showed great interest towards the Armenian history, culture and khachkar making art, representatives of different organizations expressed willingness for cooperation and joint programs.

“European heritage volunteers” organization’s further directions of cooperation, as well as the question of including international volunteers in the protection of Armenian monuments and popularization were discussed.

Within the framework of “Denkmal” expo NCSO’s director Ara Tarverdyan delivered a speech entitled  “Zorats church reserve and surrounding monuments”.

He talked about the arrangement made with the director of “European heritage volunteers” organization, with which an establishment of a campus in Vayots dzor region is planned. Ara Tarverdyan informed that the volunteers will investigate the other monuments of the region as well.

The president of Germany’s cultural heritage division and “European cultural heritage year-2018” German side’s coordinator Uve Koch also delivered a speech.

Arrangements for further cooperation were made with the representatives of other participant organizations. Particularly with “Kizhi open-air museum” and Bulgaria’s “Dobrikh regional historical museum”. During the meeting with the representative of Russian Federation’s union of restorers” Roman Fatin the possibility of presenting “Protection service” NCSO with a separate pavilion in “Denkmal-Moscow” event was discussed.

Specialists from the sphere of monuments protection and popularization from Poland, Croatia, Russian Federation, Portugal, Georgia, Ukraine, Albania, Bulgaria, Netherlands, Germany and Spain took part in the coordinators’ conference of “European heritage volunteers partner” programs.

The aim of it is the exchange of experience between the specialists of the sphere responsible for the protection of historical-cultural heritage and popularization, and the implementation of future cooperation and joint programs. The partner programs of European heritage volunteer include events concerning the protection, restoration of historical-cultural heritage and education.

The discussed program promises to be inclusive and efficient, volunteers will implement monument conservation, restoration. The best program examples organized in the previous years were presented.

The representative of Armenian delegation, advisor to NCSO’s director Serob Hunanyan presented the rich cultural heritage of our country, NCSO’s branches and activity via slide show. The possibilities of cooperation with different European organizations, volunteer works implemented in monument territories were discussed.

Participants expressed willingness to participate in the organized programs in Armenia’s historical-cultural monument territories.
