TYARNYNDARAJ WAS CELEBRATED IN “GARNI”

It’s already the second year that the national traditional feast is celebrated in NCSO’s branch museum-reserve gathering many people round it. The celebration of Trndez or Tyarnyndaraj started with the ethnographic song performances of “Gata band”.

A liturgy was held in Garni community’s St. Cross church and the participants of the feast accompanied by zurna-dhol sounds and fire taken from the church’s icon-lamps moved to the museum-reserve where on the foundation of St. Sion church the flame of Tyarnyndaraj was lit.

Foreign visitors also jumped over the flame and joined the dance round it. The beautiful feast attracted the visitors from China, Iran, Germany and France as well.

“Holding the feast in “Garni” historical-cultural museum-reserve has a special meaning. Here are situated Garni pagan temple and the ruins of St. Sion church. We have planned the event in “Garni” so that both pagans and Christians celebrate the feast together”, mentioned the director of “Protection service” NCSO Ara Tarverdyan.

By the way, the representatives of “Arordineri ukht” organization were also present at the event. “Arordineri ukht” had organized a trndez feast in the territory of Karmir blur monument.

By the end of the event the participants of the event were given souvenirs.
