By the proposition of talented geologist, coordinator of archaeological excavations Koryun Mkrtchyan who had invaluable investment in the discovery and research of Metsamor site, it was decided to found a museum in Metsamor. The building was projected by honored architect Makabe Manuelyan in 1968-69. The museum was opened in 1970.
Today on February 28 the architect turns 90. “Protection service” NCSO plans an event dedicated to M. Manuelyan’s activity in “Metsamor” historical-cultural museum-reserve.
P.S. by the project of the talented architect the building of Armenian state university of architecture was constructed /formerly Polytechnic institute after K .Marx/. Together with S.Safaryan, M.Manuelyan projected the subsidiary buildings of the institutes of Mathematics, mechanics and geology of Armenian SSR NAS.
