SCHOOL CHILDREN ALSO SPOKE ABOUT THE MONUMENTS OF THE REGION

Secondary school (Gegharquniq region) held an open class entitled «Cultural Achievement». Shushan Hakobyan (deputy director of the regional service of Gegharquniq PHE) introduced the 11th grade students the cultural and historical heritage of the region. She made a greater emphasis on Bronze Age burials, graves and other monuments. The deputy director noted that the state list of historical and cultural monuments included 5400 monument of Gegharquniq region. Shushan Hakobyan particularly talked about Ilikavanq (Paravivanq) in Lanjaxbyur (state index 4.38.1.2). The students presented an old legend about the monastery according to which an old woman wanted to light candles in the church of a rich man and was not allowed. She wounded and decided to gather money and build a church. That`s why the monument was called Paravi vanq. The deputy director also told about Saint Gevorg Chapel (15th century) near the road Gavar-Martuni state index 7.4.1.38.

The students also spoke about Hayravanq (9-13th century) state index 4.59.1.1 and St. Mariam Astvatsatsin church (9th century) state index 4.4.18.2 and shared their expressions.
