A NEW PHASE OF COOPERATION WITH GRODNO STATE YANKA KUPALA UNIVERSITY

On November 26-27 the delegation headed by Vladimir Poghosyan (director of «Service for the protection of historical environment and Cultural Museum Reservations») was in Belarus. They traveled to Grodno at the invitation of the Belarusian colleagues in order to give a new phase of cooperation. Till today the Armenian and Belarusian specialists cooperated only in international conferences.

The new phase of cooperation is more comprehensive: research, educational programs, professional training and exchange of experience. The aim of the visit was to discuss the issues outlined above. Next Year an agreement will be signed between Grodno State Yanka Kupala University and «Service for the protection of historical environment and Cultural Museum Reservations”.

The delegation had a meeting with the rector of the university Andrey Corol (Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences).

At the Council Vladimir Poghosyan announced the order of the Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan to award Igor Martinenko (Chair of Civil Law Department of the Law Faculty, Doctor of Law) with the «Grigor Narekatsi» Medal for his honor in popularizing Armenian cultural heritage.

The delegation also met with the students of the university. Vladimir Poghosyan made a report and presented the structure of NCSO and spoke about the monuments under the protection of the organization. The presentation was accompanied by a slide show. Vladimir Poghosyan answered to various questions. The students also were interested in the action camps of the UNESCO «Patrimonito» program which took place for the fourth time in “Zvartnots” Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve. The students expressed a wish to visit Armenia and take part in this international program.

Two students from Faculty of Law presented a slide-show dedicated to the Armenian monuments included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The members of the delegation also got acquainted with the rich historical and cultural heritage of Belarus. The delegation visited Grodno State Museum of History and Archaeology, Museum of the History of Religion and Old Castle Museum.

The cooperation with Belarus is the third great achievement in the sphere of international cooperation. NCSO director Vladimir Poghosyan and adviser to the director Norayr Hakobyan gave an interview to Belarus ONT TV Channel.
