Davit Poghosyan (expert of NCSO “Service for the Protection of Historical Environment and Cultural Museum Reservations”, candidate of pedagogical sciences) took part in international professional courses organized by British Museum and its partners England and Scotland.

In this program Armenia took part from last year at the request of D.Poghosyan. The experts invited from different countries have the opportunity to take part in seminars, debates, lectures and practical work organized at the museum. At the conclusion the participants present exhibition-projects on the basis of the items selected from the collection of the British Museum.

This year the program attended 24 specialists from 14 countries (China, Malaysia, India, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Iran, Armenia, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Palestine, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Sudan). The representative of Armenia David Poghosyan delivered a report on the activities of NCSO. Researcher of NCSO took an active part in all discussions and activities, and met with various experts in the field of museums and heritage as well as has acquired the professional literature and other materials.

The exhibition project presented in the end of the program was based on a combination and “dialogue” of “Frog-shaped weight mascot” (16th century BC), (exhibit from “Metsamor” historical-archaeological museum-reserve) with similar exhibits from the collections of the British Museum.

The project aroused great interest because “frog-shaped weight mascot” provides new information about little known artifacts acquired by the British Museum. The participation of Armenia supported the heritage center “Dresden State Art Collection”.

It should be noted that there is already an invitation which shows the interest to continue the work within the framework of this program at the British Museum and Dresden.

The result of this program was not only the acquisition of great experience but also professional materials that will be used in the field of heritage conservation particularly in local and international activities of NCSO.
