In the framework of the project “New Life to the Forgotten Historical and Cultural Heritage of Armenia,” employees of the department-laboratory of restoration of museum objects of the “Service for Protection of Historical Environment and Cultural Museum-Reservations,” SNCO, recently visited Geological museum of Yeghegnadzor. SNCO staff together with colleagues identified 15 units of archaeological items that were brought to the organization for cleaning, strengthening and restoring purposes.
In the scope of the project requested by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of RA, the staff of the “Protection Service,” SNCO, will also be in museums of Vanadzor, Gavar, Echmiadzin, and Ijevan.
At the end of the project, archaeological items will be published in a catalog (through photos, before and after appearance of the objects will be presented, a brief description of the subject will be given, as well as a brief information about the museum).
Copies of the published catalogs will be provided to museums, regional libraries, and to scientific institutions.
It is also planned to, while returning the restored items to each of the museums, organize lectures and scientific events about archeological studies, museum objects and issues related to their restoration and strengthening (with the help of photos and videos) for specific target groups such as school-age children, museum workers, and residents of regions.
