FOUR MUSEUMS FUNCTION IN SHUSHI. STATE MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS HAS 630 EXHIBITS

After consoling the wounds of the war in historical Shushi, the people of Artsakh undertook the development of cultural life as well. Cultural Shushi has four museum s today, the state museum of fine arts, state museum of geology after Grigori Gabrielyanc, Shushi’s museum of history and the gallery of Shushi. Cultural centers introduce themselves with the best manifestations of Armenian culture. Lusine Gasparyan, the director of “Shushi’s museums” NCSO, who systematizes the functioning of those museums mentioned that it waS opened on May 9, 2013 by the initiative of professor Grigor Gabrielyanc. The building of the museum was constructed on the foundation of Shushi’s former motel, preserving the architectural features of the latter.

The collection consists of grants. Among the features of the museum is the rich list of grantors and the large geography of presented works: Republic of Armenia, Republic of Artsakh, Georgia, USA, France, Indonesia, Madagascar and others.

Valuable are especially the works of famous artists reserved in the museum (M. Saryan, N. Garzu, E. Shahin, Jansem, H. Hakobyan, D. Burlyuk, A. Shevchenko, D. Plavisnki and others). According to the director of “Shushi’s museums” NCSO today there are 630 exhibits in the State museum of fine arts.

Educational programs with schools are in the center of the museum’s attention. Visits to the museums are organized frequently, where pupils take part in educational events and intellectual games. The doors of Shushi’s museums are open for the soldiers as well.

Talking about the mentioned events in 2018, Mrs. Gasparyan mentioned that private exhibitions, classical concerts, movie screenings and other cultural events will also be organized in the museum of fine arts. Among the international projects of the museum is the symposium of sculpture after sculptor Hakob Gyurjyan, which will be held for the 6th time this year. What concerns the activity of the NCSO, as the director mentions it cooperates with the museum of history of Armenia. A cooperation with the museum of fine arts of Armenia is also planned.
