TODAY MARKS 93 YEARS SINCE THE BIRTH OF ARCHITECT MAKABE MANUELYAN

February 28 marks the 93rd anniversary of the birth of architect Makabe Manuelyan who designed the building of the Historical and Archaeological Museum-Reserve “Metsamor” (1968-69).

The proposal to create a museum building was made by geologist Koryun Mkrtchyan who made a great contribution to the discovery and study of the ancient settlement of Metsamor. The museum building was opened in 1970.

The famous architect M. Manuelyan also designed the building of the State Engineering University of Armenia, the House of Culture of Railway Workers in Yerevan, and together with architect S. Safaryan – the buildings of the Institutes of Mathematics, Mechanics and Geology of the Academy of Sciences of the Armenian SSR, etc.
