By the initiative of NCSO’s Kotayq regional service and NCSO’s division of marketing and cultural events planning, with the cooperation of Charentsavan’s municipality’s division of culture and art school after Garzou an exhibition entitled “Old and new Yerevan” dedicated to Yerevan’s 2800th anniversary was opened. It was created together with “Protection service” NCSO and Yerevan history museum.
The head of NCSO’s Kotayq regional service Kamo Hakobyan opened the ceremony by delivering a speech. In his words he touched upon the urban development of the old capital and the necessity of saving the city’s architectural features. He highlighted that the historical core of the city should be preserved parallel with the new urban planning approaches. As examples of already collapsed old buildings were brought Poghos-Petros, Grigor Lusavorich and Russian St. Anna churches, Getzeman chapel.
The aim of the exhibition is to present 2800-year old Yerevan to the adolescents and the youth. Unfortunately, only photos testify about most of old Yerevan’s buildings today.
“Old and new Yerevan” exhibition will last a few more days in Charentsavan’s art school after Garzou.
