“Budur” fortress was probably built in the VI-IV centuries BC. It controlled the strategic route connecting the Aghstev Valley to the Valley of the River Tavush and leading to the Kur lowland. The walls of the impregnable fortress are up to 3 m. thick and are built of massive rough stones without mortar. Foundation walls of different structures can be seen in the northern part of the fortress.
